Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union, presented within the Let's build changes conference, the key challenges in the field of energy and construction sector. The buildings of EU have still great potential of energy savings because 75% of EU buildings are insufficient and need renovation, Šefčovič reported. Renovations bring the opportunity of new jobs in the EU countries. Dragomir Tzanev, Train-to-NZEB project coordinator presented current training needs in the field of of nZEB. The conference introduced the key challenges of energy union and construction industry:
- Effectiveness of resources;
- Circular economy;
- Innovation and digitalization;
- Increasing interest of youth to enter to the construction industry;
- Achievement of energy savings in buildings.
In terms of panel discussion, the key objectives of the ingREeS were discussed; mainly study programmes and training centers helping to improved skills of architects, site-managers and construction workers. In parallel, the topic of extremely low interest of youth coming to the construction business was opened as a whole EU problem.
