Atlete – testing energy consumption for evaluation of energy labelling

Energy labelling of household electrical appliances represents one of the basic tools consumers can use when making decisions on the purchase of new products. The information on the label is derived from energy consumption tests. The tests are conducted in compliance with strict requirements set forth by specific technical standards. The Atlete project randomly chooses 80 best-selling models of refrigerators and freezers and their combinations in Europe.

These 80 models will be tested in 2010 and 2011, and the information stated on the label will be matched against the data provided by the producers. Any discrepancies shall be discussed with the state inspection bodies and producers, and published.
