European Regulation of Refrigerants for Commercial Refrigerators

The European project ProCold promotes energy efficient commercial refrigerating appliances as well as products dealing solely with climate-friendly refrigerants. EU Member States have committed themselves to a gradual regulation of substances essential for cooling. From 2022 onwards, climate-friendly refrigerants with low global warming potential will be available for use. read more

Education towards nZEB

One of the key tasks for the current building sector is to attract and retain skilled and knowledgeable workers so that top innovations can be developed and applied in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. These days, a comprehensive approach to energy issues as well as to ensuring the efficiency of sources (throughout the whole lifecycle of buildings) is required. At present, three projects are being carried out which deal with improving the professional skills of on-site workers. This article introduces the current activities of the ingRES project aiming primarily at engineers. read more

Common Energy Concept in Business Parks: An Opportunity for Savings

The on-going centralisation of various business areas, including industrial production and services, leads to growing use of so-called industrial or business parks. They are significant consumers of energy, particularly of electricity and heat. Two situations in particular are responsible for the establishment of business parks: the revitalisation of industrial sites that are no longer in operation (because the original industrial plant has been closed down) and new development zones established in order to support the eco- nomic development of a nearby town. What are the best tools to identify and carry out the energy savings potential? read more

Programme to reduce energy poverty in the Czech Republic

04.07.2018

In recent years, household expenditures on energy consumption have significantly increased. Consequently, the number of households that cannot afford to keep their homes adequately warm in winter or adequately cool in summer has increased as well. Such households are affected by energy poverty.

Start of the ANTICSS project: Anti-Circumvention of Standards for better market Surveillance

03.07.2018

The topic of manipulated testing results or “circumvention” is currently getting a lot of public and media attention, not only for car emissions (dieselgate), but also with regard to other EU legislation. For this reason, the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme has funded the “ANTICSS – Anti-Circumvention of Standards for better market Surveillance” project. Its objectives are to define and assess “circumvention" in relation to EU Ecodesign and energy labelling legislation and their harmonised standards.

Topten Summary Market Surveillance Report

Topten Summary Market Surveillance Report

29.09.2016

The report describes the activities and contributions of the Topten project team, lead by SEVEn, in the efforts of increased market surveillance – to ensure that the information provided on the energy label is correct, and that the retailers provide the energy labels and the product fiche to consumers in the prescribed form. It reviews the calculations of the Energy Efficiency Indexes, monitoring of the proper online energy label display, and the monitoring of relevant product testing.

Change Best is an international project that supports the development of a market for energy saving services. The project shows examples of good practices in developing the energy service market, strategies, forms of support and measures resulting from the implementation of Directive 2006/32/ EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, on energy end-use efficiency and energy services. The main goal of the project is to assist the energy companies and energy service companies in entering the market for energy efficient services and assist in the development of this market by disseminating information on successful projects that have used the EPC method and other types of energy services.
