Cost Optimum Update for Building Energy Performance
In 2023, under the leadership of SEVEn, the so-called cost-optimal requirements for building energy performance were updated for the Czech Republic in accordance with the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The cost-optimal calculation serves as a basis for setting national requirements for building energy performance and simultaneously represents a technical-economic analysis of various building energy performance solutions. EPBD Directive defines the cost-optimal level as "the energy performance level which leads to the lowest cost during the estimated economic lifecycle."
The cost optimum is addressed for various building categories, both renovations and new constructions, with assessment of all investment and operational costs and their relevant technical parameters affecting building energy performance.
The third cost-optimal calculation for the Czech Republic (previous calculations were conducted in 2012 and 2017) was processed by SEVEn together with the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague and the Association of Entrepreneurs in Construction (SPS), with financial support from the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic.
