CraftEDU Project Established National Qualification and Training Scheme for Construction Craftsmen

Europe currently faces a shortage of qualified construction craftsmen while simultaneously experiencing growing pressure to ensure sufficient expertise among craftsmen in energy-efficient construction, which often fails to achieve appropriate quality. The CraftEDU project, supported by the European HORIZON 2020 program and coordinated by SEVEn, addressed precisely this situation. The project's full title is: Establishing a National Qualification and Training Scheme for Construction Craftsmen in the Czech Republic and Developing Additional Training Course Offerings in Slovakia, Austria, and Bulgaria. The main objective was to create educational programs and e-learning courses for selected craft professions in the field of nZEB (nearly zero-energy buildings) and renewable energy sources. In addition to the actual learning materials and aids, educational workers will be trained and certified to further train craftsmen. The program also included pilot testing training sessions followed by initial applications directly in construction companies.
