The SEED MICAT project aims to help the European Union and its member states account for the multiple impacts of policies that increase energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources, in line with the "energy efficiency first" principle. These multiple impacts are the co-benefits of such measures, including improved air quality, reduced illness, the creation of new jobs, enhanced energy security, and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. The project also focuses on building capacity for using the MICATool and supporting its application in policy development at the national, regional, and local levels of public administration. Within the project, the MICATool is being expanded to include the assessment of impacts from renewable energy sources.
